There’s nothing like a good samaritan and apparently there are quite a few of them in Alberta.
A CBC story I read says that Albertans have opened up their hearts and wallets to the 46-year-old man who was beaten while he slept in some bushes on a Calgary street. The person or persons who committed the cowardly act that left the victim needing surgery, and in an induced coma after their brutal and probably drunken act of violence, have yet to be apprehended.
Since the brutal attack, the police have fielded a lot of calls from people offering help and support to the victim and his two adult daughters. There have been job offers, others have offered to put the victims family up in a hotel for a month while the man recovers. One woman, who had just finished work offered to go to the hospital and sit with him and read to him. She even said she would bring him toiletries. How cool is that?
What happened to this man in Calgary was brutal, and I hope that whoever did this, is caught soon.
Although I think there is far too much crime in Calgary because of transients, crimes like this one, are rare on Calgary streets. I do however recall another story a couple of years ago about another homeless man being beaten in Calgary.
What happened to this man, who by the way is no older than I am, is awful and a very cowardly act. I don’t know how else to describe it.
