It has been 11 years since the beating and drowning death of schoolgirl Reena Virk in Victoria’s Gorge Waterway, and it has been three years since Kelly Ellard was convicted of Virk’s murder for the second time. You would think that this case would be closed by now, but apparenlty it isn’t.
Ellard, forever the “I Didn’t Do It” girl is asking for a fourth trial, and her lawyer spent the better part of Wednesday morning in the B.C. Court of Appeal trying to poke holes in the teenage witness testimony that saw Ellard receive a life sentence with no eligibility for parole for seven years back in 2005. Peter Wilson is arguing that the testimony that convicted his client was gossip, hearsay and innuendo and that she deserves a fourth trial.
I’m kind of on the fence on this one and I’m not sure whether or not Ellard has a legal leg to stand on, but if she wants a fourth trial and she’s successful at getting one, then I think the prosecution should amend the charges and seek a life-term without eligibility for parole. There is no statute of limitation when it comes to murder, and if Ellard wants another trial, then I think the prosecution should do everything in it’s power to amend the charges and the sentencing request. In other words, make sure that should Ellard be convicted, make a life sentence mean a life sentence, and ensure that Ellard not be eligible for parole until serving at least 20 years of her sentence. I bet if the prosecution presented that scenario to Ellard, she would quickly change her mind about seeking a fourth trial.
I think it’s ridiculous that this case is still going on, and I think it is even more ridiculous that this little bitch is being allowed to manipulate and play “the system” in the way that she has been allowed to do for the past 11years. It is time to shut this little bitch down once and for all.
Kelly Ellard doesn’t deserve a fourth trial, especially since she has already been convicted twice on the same murder charge. Think about it for a moment people, did Reena Virk get a second chance at life after she was beaten and drowned for no apparent reason? Of course not, she’s dead and buried, pushing up daisies, and yet there’s a little bitch sitting in a prison cell who thinks she deserves a 4th chance at her life.
Get f**king real Kelly Ellard, you deserve to spend more than 7 years in prison for your crime, but because you were a young offender at the time of the murder, you won’t. Count yourself luckier than Reena Virk, the girl you murdered just for kicks.
The last I heard about her request for a fourth trial, the appeal court judges were debiberating. That was a couple of days ago.
Talk about a waste of taxpayer’s money. She was already convicted twice on the murder charge. How many times does it have to be proven that Ellard is a cold-blooded killer before people get through their thick heads that Ellard is just playing the system now in a desperate bid to get away with a murder she knows she committed.
