Another Severed Foot Washes Ashore in British Columbia

June 18th, 2008No Comments

I’ve blogged about this news story before, in fact it was last month, and I have to admit that I am amused and curious about the severed feet (5 of them now-4 right feet and 1 left foot so far) that for whatever reason are washing ashore in British Columbia.

My theory for the severed feet, 4 of which were wearing a sock and a shoe, was that it was some sort of university prank, or that there was a sick f**k working in a funeral home with a foot fetish. You never know these day with people in British Columbia where the marijuana is potent, and where I think there is a lot more sick f**ks roaming the streets than anywhere else in Canada.

There are many theories out there about the severed feet, but I haven’t come across too many online, not that I have been looking for them.

I would have thought that news websites, the legitimate ones like AP, Reuters, CTV, CBC and maybe Canoe news would have had more to offer on their reportage of this bizarre and eerie story, but they haven’t, and that leaves me to come up with my own theories on what I think is going on, or having to read somebody else’s less than rational and unrealistic theories on what they think is the reason for the severed feet washing ashore.

That being said, let me put forth a few other theories.

Oceanographer Curtis Ebbesmeyer says when a human body is submerged in the ocean, arms, legs, feet, and the head are what usually come off the body. He says the severed feet that washed ashore likely came from somebody who was involved in an accident at sea, somewhere along the Fraser River perhaps, and that the feet were brought into the Straight of Georgia by currents, and then were washed ashore by the tide.

That’s a plausible theory, and if that is the case, then surely the person of an accident at sea has been reported as missing, and/or there are records of accidents that resulted in missing persons. DNA profiling would likely help in identifying who the feet belong to then, after all there would likely be family members (especially those ones who reported a family member missing) who could help with identify the remains.

Hard to say, but maybe a shark or whale swallowed somebody up at sea, and that the severed feet were either regurgitated up after sitting in a shark or whale’s stomach for sometime. I don’t know how long it takes a shark or whale to digest something like a human body, but this one theory I’m not prepared to cast aside just yet.

Then of course there’s the possibility that there is a predatorial sexual psychopath or some other form of psychopath who is kidnapping people off the street, and enslaving them in some remote area along the Fraser River, and that one of their feet is removed to prevent them from escaping. It would be pretty hard, if not impossible to flee from a remote cabin or camp through some of the rugged terrain along the Fraser River, right? Then of course there’s the possibility that the foot was removed from the pyschopath’s victims as a form of punishment for trying to escape. This theory certainly isn’t out of the realm of possibilities. How can we forget Robert Pickton the pig farmer, he would certainly be capable of doing something like this, and there’s no reason to believe that there isn’t somebody else in BC who isn’t like him, right? Hey, maybe the feet have something to do with the Port Coquitlam pig farmer, his farm was located close to the Fraser River wasn’t it? Again, another theory, and quite possibly the most believable one if you ask me, but I’m sure police have considered that notion.

Nevertheless, another foot has washed ashore, only this time it was a left one, and it wasn’t wearing a sock and shoe. By the way, apparently it doesn’t look like the feet were removed while the person the foot belonged to was alive. I also find it curious that we haven’t heard whether the feet belonged to a male or female, at least I haven’t heard anything. Certainly science, more specifically DNA profiling would be able to determine the gender of the persons the feet belong to right, and surely the RCMP would publicize such information in an effort to help them solve this case right?
