As is every other industrialized country in the civilized world, times are tough for the economy and survival of big name corporations in the U.S. In fact, times are so tough that according to “economic experts” we are in the midst of a global economic meltdown, like the U.S. hasn’t seen since the Great Depression.
Given the shaky ground the big three automakers find themselves on, you would think that there would be some tightening up of the spending belt by the CEOs of Ford, Chrysler and GM, but apparently not, at least not according to Fox News who have ridiculed the CEOs who jetted off to Washington to meet with Congress in search of a taxpayer funded bailout package to keep them afloat.
The ridicule is deserved given that all those that went to Capitol Hill to beg for money flew into Washington on private jets instead of taking commercial flights which would have been far more cheaper, not to mention a tax write-off for all three auto-making giants. What were the dolts thinking, and the gall they displayed, what about that?
Talk about slapping American taxpayers in the face. Who the f**k do they think they are?
Such decadence and arrogance shouldn’t go unnoticed, and thanks to the ever popular Bill O’Reilly and Dennis Miller it won’t, and it shouldn’t.
If I was an American taxpayer, or better yet a congressman, I’d be telling the CEOs to go f**k themselves and to get a grip. They wouldn’t be getting one Lincoln penny from the taxpayer-funded coffers whether they had a plan on how they were going to spend the multi-billion bailout package they are begging for or not. After making huge profits off of consumer’s backs and really not giving much back to consumers, choosing instead to finance their corporate lifestyle with the perks and luxuries the CEOs are afforded these days, I say, “F**k em!, let them collapse and suffer the consequences of their capitalistic greed.”
As for the auto-making industry itself, I’m sure the U.S. could survive on used cars and the auto parts manufacturing end of the business for years to come if Ford, Chrysler and GM were forced to cut production because of the economic downturn, but then it shouldn’t take an economic downturn to force them into doing more themselves and the environment anyway. How many f**king cars does the world need anyway?
It wouldn’t be the end of the world with the Big Three automakers downsized to save their sorry corporate asses, though I do feel for the autoworkers that would lose their jobs.
A bigger focus on automobile recycling could lessen the impact on the amount of jobs lost, and it would be good for the economy. A more focused attention to automobile recycling by the Big Three certainly wouldn’t hurt the economy anymore than it is already suffering, and not to mention the effect of flooding the market with gas-guzzlers is having on the global warming crisis the world is apparently in.
I do think the autoworkers and the unions that represent those autoworkers could stand to suffer a bit themselves too, what with the high wages and the “Cadillac” benefits packages they demand, and that car-buyers help pay for. They too are the makers of the own fate, and like the CEOs who flew into Washington on their private jets, they too could stand to tighten their belts a little also.
Having said that, and as you obviously know by now if you have been paying attention to what I have written, the Big Three will get no sympathy from me, while the autoworkers and their unions will get the bare minimum I am willing to offer. Either way they won’t be getting any money from me as purchasing a brand new vehicle goes because I just don’t buy new vehicles, something car-loving Americans should think about doing.
One last thing, I agree with Mitt Romney when he says let the Detroit automakers go bankrupt. As for that clown Barney Frank, well, not much to say about him except that he should find another work because he’s looking like a tool in the congressional seat he is occupying. He’s a moron and how he managed to get elected is beyond me.
