It has taken the Sri Lankan army long enough, but by all appearances it would be appear that they are finally winning the battle at driving the Tamil Tigers into the bush from whence they came. Boy, Tamil supporters can’t be liking that, huh?
Despite what supporters of the LTTE and LTTE leaders themselves say, they are not, nor were they ever, as hard done by and oppressed as they have been leading the western world to believe. Their only problem, and it’s only a problem to them by the way, is that they are a minority, albeit one that has received many perks from the Sri Lanka government during the past few decades. The thing about the Tamils though is that no matter what concessions the Sri Lankan government gives, or no how many times the Sri Lankan government kisses the Tamils ass, it isn’t and it will never be enough for the Tamils.
Free education, a voice in government, healthcare, the freedom to come and go as they please, employment opportunities and the like, isn’t and never has been, enough to appease the Tamils who like Islamists want a state of their own. Unfortunately for the Tamils, they have been using violence as a means to that end and at the end of the day they are now further ahead after decades of suicide bombings and other acts of terror against the Sri Lankan government and its officials. Tamils have been playing the same game for far too long when it comes the “oppression” card they constantly play in the western media, and today and rightfully so, I think the jig is up for them, that the western media might not be too sympathetic to their cause anymore. I could be wrong about it, but it is the way it should be.
The western media, at least as far as Sri Lanka goes, has been played by the Tamils.
I think it’s fantastic news that the Tamils are taking a beating 3 days into the New Year and it is long overdue.
These days it really sucks to be a supporter of an organization that the Canadian government recognizes as a terrorist organization. As for the Tamils living in Canada, what can I say other than they are backing the wrong horse and may karma come back and bite them in their asses.
While the fight against the the LTTE is far from over, they are going to have one hell of a time trying to regroup after the Sri Lankan army captured their de facto rebel capital.
I bet LTTE rebels couldn’t get out of Kilinochchi fast enough when they became aware that they were about to be captured or slaughtered on their home turf. It really looks good on them and bravo to the Sri Lankan army for having the guts to finally take a much bigger fight to the rebels in Kilinochchi where the Tamil separatist hierarchy has been hiding out and directing acts of terrorism for years.
The Sri Lankan president, Mahinda Rajapaksa is calling for the last time that the LTTE lay down their arms and surrender, or be crushed. There will be no more peace talks until that happens. Now might be a good time for the LTTE and their supporters to come to their senses and finally stop the senseless violence they have perpetrated under the guise of their so-called oppression.

A Canadian soldier serving in Afghanistan has been charged with murder after shooting to death a Taliban fighter. Good on him for doing exactly what he is supposed to be doing, taking out the enemy, and shame on our Canadian military police for doing what I consider an insult to the 106 soldiers who have already died fighting for the Afghan people and their freedom, and an insult to the soldiers who continue to battle on, including one or two who are friends of mine.
Charging Capt. Robert Semrau with second-degree murder based on information provided by those who were either caught up in the moment or have an axe to grind is utterly absurd, and as far as I’m concerned the military police was pressured into laying the charge, Unarmed or not, the dead man could have prevented his own death, but obviously he didn’t. It was his own stupidity that got him killed as far as I’m concerned. He could have avoided the bullet or bullets that killed him. He didn’t and now a Canadian soldier is going to be made accountable for the actions he took when faced with a life or death situation. For all he knew the guy he took out could have been lethally connected or wired up.
The Capt. did the right thing to preserve his life and the lives of others and charging him with murder is obscene and disgusting. I have to question the military police’s motivation in this one.
I’m not saying that the military police investigators are going out of their way to fudge their investigation so they can lay a token murder charge; I’m just saying that when it comes to the truth as it is told to them by those close to the incident, they might be reading into something that isn’t there.
Funny how that incident took place on October 19, 2008 and that it has really only come to light in the past 4 or 5 days, and that a second-degree murder charge has arisen against somebody whose orders are basically kill or be killed in Afghanistan.
106 Canadian soldiers have fallen in Afghanistan living and fighting by that unspoken rule of engagement.
That said-I’m founding it extremely difficult not to believe that the military investigators aren’t naive, that they are not buying into anything and everything disgruntled and sympathetic Afghani soldiers have to say regarding the alleged incident at Lashkar Gah where British and Canadian troops were defending the capital against an insurgent attack.
Nothing like slapping our Canadian soldiers in the face in the hopes of scoring some political brownie points in a nation where it’s kill or be killed.
This story is going to get a lot of ink during the next little while, but after everybody has had their fun making Semrau out to be the bad guy, and military justice is finished making a scapegoat out of him, I have no doubt in my mind that Semrau will be vindicated.

From the very first moment I heard about Brenda Martin’s plea for help from Canadians and the Canadian government to get her out a Mexican prison I had my doubts about the story she was telling. As far as I was concerned her story was as fraudulent as her former employer (I suspect he was her lover too) was, and I also thought that she was playing Canadians for support and hoping that one day she would be able to cash in on her tale of woe.
In the end the federal government kissed her butt, won her release from the Mexican prison where she said conditions were so bad, almost inhumane, and flew her back home to Canada at taxpayer’s expense, on a chartered jet no less, a flight that reportedly cost Canadian taxpayers $82,000.
If Martin had done her time in Mexico she would have been forced to serve out her full 5-year sentence after she was convicted of money-laundering for her “former” employer, a man who as far as I know, is still in a U.S. prison serving what is left of a ten-year sentence after he was convicted of running a $60-million U.S. internet fraud scheme.
Not to my surprise Brenda Martin is back in the headlines and she isn’t winning me over. Not that she would care what I or anybody else thinks about her.
In an article she published on the social media website Orato titled “I Languished in a Mexican Prison,” Martin states that if the Mexican government were inclined to pardon her for the crime she was found guilty of, she would gladly return to Mexico because she misses the beach. If that’s the way she feels then maybe she and her Canadian and Mexican supporters should lobby the Mexican government as hard as they did the Canadian government to get that pardon, you know threaten a tourism boycott or something like that if they don’t issue her a pardon so that she could return to Mexico. Maybe she should try threatening suicide to get that pardon too.
And if she finds herself short of cash to pay for a one-way ticket back to Mexico, I’m sure there are more than a few thousand Canadian taxpayers who wouldn’t mind picking up the tab for the ticket if she promised to pay it back and to never return to Canada, but only if she has paid the debt she owes Canadian taxpayers for bringing her back to Canada.
Martin also says in her article that during her short stay at Grand Valley she longed to be returned to the Mexican prison where according to her prison guards killed her pet cats, she was beaten and robbed, and she was forced to share a cell with a convicted child murderer and a kidnapper. Apparently her “celebrity status” put her in harms way in Canada.
Yeppers, life in a Mexican prison was so much better for Martin compared to the conditions she had to live under at Grand Valley, don’t you think?
What was it a friend who visited her while she was incarcerated at Puente Grande, one of the toughest prisons in Mexico, that Martin’s Mexican prison conditions had made her mentally unstable, physically exhausted and emotional mess? Since she is still on parole maybe corrections officials and the National Parole Board of Canada should arrange to send her back to Puente Garde if she thinks life is so much better for her down there than in Canada. I don’t have a problem with that.
Given the title of her seven page article in Orato, coupled with her claim that eight days into her stay at Grand Valley she longed to be returned to her Mexican prison cell, I would have to say that the woman is still a whack job and that she hasn’t done anything since returning to Canada to get the help she needs to correct that personality flaw.
Martin is currently living with her mother in Trenton, Ontario.

In an effort to avoid going to jail the grandparents of murdered Florida toddler are asking for immunity from prosecution for anything they might say during police interviews. In other words Cindy and George likely knew for quite sometime before Caylee’s body was discovered almost in their own backyard that their granddaughter was dead, that Casey did it, and they definitely obstructed justice. They put on quite a show didn’t they, and now they have the unmitigated to ask Orange County prosecutors to cut them some slack should it come to light during their police interview that they not only knew more than they were letting on, but that they had a hand in the disposal of Caylee’s body.
I know if I was the District Attorney there would be no deals for Caylee’s grandparents or for her uncle (Casey brother) for that matter. I would definitely be throwing the book at all of them, and there would be no deals.
You had to know this was going to happen, that despite Cindy’s Oscar nominating performance when she first contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s department, there was something about her that just didn’t play out right, like the fact that she constantly downplayed her daughter’s possible involvement in her granddaughter’s disappearance, and then of course the countless shows she put on for the media camped outside the Anthony family home.
Neither George or Cindy made the request for immunity, that distinction belongs to their attorney Brad Conway, who thought it was in their best interest that they had such immunity just in case. Gee, do you think grandma and grandpa might have shared some deep dark secrets with their attorney about their role in a tragedy that gripped a nation and was played out and continues to be played out on cable news networks on an almost daily basis?
And does Conway expect us to believe him when he says that his clients never asked him to request immunity from prosecution if they cooperated with police and finally told the truth about what they really know about Caylee’s murder, the disposal of her body practically in their own backyard, a place where Casey used to bury her dead pets as a child?
Conway is insulting my intelligence if he thinks for one minute I am going to believe that the Anthony’s didn’t ask him to seek immunity for their cooperation.
The Anthonys, provided there is an immunity deal in place, are expected to be interviewed by investigators sometime after Caylee’s funeral.

I’ve lost count of how many times DMX (Earl Simmons) has been busted during the past year but the number of times he has been arrested is clearly an indication that the former rapper and wannabe actor has no respect for authority and the laws all Americans are expected to uphold.
DMX is a “dirt bag,” a bottom feeder who no doubt has used his drug addiction as an excuse for his criminal behaviour, and who in the very near future will begin serving a 90-day prison sentence for drug possession and animal cruelty.
He will appear in Maricopa County Superior Court (Arizona) on January 30 for sentencing and remains in custody after pleading to three felony and one misdemeanor charge.
The animal cruelty charge came about after sheriff’s deputies raided his home near Phoenix and found dog carcasses and malnourished pit bulls on his property.
He is no longer allowed to own any animals or possess any firearms, not that I think the latter is going to prevent him from packing heat in the future given his total lack of respect for authority and the laws they enforce.
As far as Crooked in Canada is concerned 90 days isn’t nearly a long enough sentence for the dirt bag, but at least his convictions should keep him from entering into Canada if he is so inclined to do so to film a movie or perform a concert at a later date, though Canada immigration’s lax attitude towards U.S. entertainers convicted of felony offences might say otherwise.
At least he is going to jail, but I doubt he‘ll learn anything from it. Whatever is left of his tanking career will almost surely be flushed into the sewers where it belongs, taking him along for the ride.
Do you think prison inmates in anticipation of his arrival are fighting over who is going to make DMX their bitch first?
